Programme

The final programme is downloadable here and the printed version will be enclosed in your congress bag.
ESA members, and participants who wish to get more information about ESA, are invited to attend:

  • The ESA General Assembly on Wednesday September 1, from 17:30 to 19:00 in Einstein auditorium.
  • The ESA Division Meetings on Tuesday August 31, from 17:30 to 18:45. Select one of the following meetings according to your scientific interest:
    • Barthez room: Division D1; “Crop System Biology: the functioning of the plant in a field”; Dimah Habash (Chair) and Xinyou Yin (co-chair)
    • Einstein auditorium: Division D2; “Field Scale Agroecology: The cultivated field as an ecosystem”; Muriel Morison (Chair) and Christian Gary (co-chair).
    • Rondelet room: Division D3: “Cropping Systems at Farm, Regional and Global Scales: the Cropping System in its embedding systems”; Olaf Christen (Chair) and Marc Benoit (co-chair).
In order to prepare the important decision to be taken during the General Assembly regarding the future of ESA, ESA representatives (board, division chairs and national representatives) are invited to attend the enlarged ESA Board meeting on Monday August 30th, from 18:15 to 19:30 in Joffre 4 room.


Oral presentations

If you make an oral presentation please check in the updated programme the exact time slot allowed and prepare your presentation accordingly to stick strictly to this time. You are invited to come to the session room 15 min. in advance to meet the chairman and check your presentation which should have been uploaded beforehand (from Sunday afternoon, on Joffre 5 preview room ).

Key-note speakers scheduled on Monday 30th sessions are invited to send their presentations in advance by email to m.rissons@gmail.com.

Posters

I invite you to register and install your poster on Sunday 29th, to avoid rushing on Monday morning. Organizing Committee members will be present to help you. Due to a high number of posters, we decided to arrange two posters and coffee breaks areas:

  • Level 1 – Joffre: all S2 posters + S3.1
  • Level 3 – Citadelle lounge: S3.2 + S3.3 + S4

Posters lists will also be available at the registration desk; you can already download it from the website.

Registration

So far, 578 participants are registered.

The registration desk at the Corum conference center will be open from Sunday August 29th from 14:00 until 19:00, as well as the posters areas and the speakers preview room (Joffre 5) to upload your presentation.

You are also invited to attend the welcome reception from 18:00 to 20:00 at Corum and the Public Conference « Mais que font les agronomes ? » from 20:30 to 23:00 at the Rabelais auditorium which is next to Corum on the Esplanade Charles De Gaulle. This conference (in French) will mix debates, theater performance and movies.

"Les Dossiers d'Agropolis International"

Agronomy: Crops and cropping systems, the latest issue of Agropolis dossier will be available in your bag. This latest issue provide a synthetic presentation of the research groups of the Agropolis institutes involved in agronomy.
The French version will be available during the congress at the Agropolis booth. Right now you can already download and browse them here and identify groups you can meet during the conference for future collaborations.

Grants

If you have requested a room in the Montpellier SupAgro students residence, please contact Isabelle Bastie before Friday August 27th to confirm your arrival time (if not yet done).

Field trips

As already announced in the last newsletter, we had to cancel the "Olive and Pont du Gard" field trip. If you registered for this field trip, please contact as soon as possible Enjoy registration services, as places for other trips are now limited.

* 13 places for the "Wine and St Guilhem" and 18 for the "Rice and Camargue Regional Park" field trips are still available.

Useful information

You can find useful information on the website to help you when you arrive in Montpellier. Nonetheless, do not hesitate to contact us if you need further help. Weather forecasts at the moment are quite unpredictable, but these are the latest !

News of interest

If you want to know more about the 5th World Congress of Conservation Agriculture incorporating the 3rd Farming Systems Design Conference scheduled in 2011 (September 26-29, Brisbane, Australia), you will be able to meet Peter de Voil in Joffre area during coffee breaks.
